We are pleased to announce that we are opening a Squirrel Drey at 1st Merton Park. This section is for young people aged 4-6 Years old. Our Squirrels meet on a Thursday evening at 17:00 to 18:00

Squirrels are young people aged 4 to 6 who:

  • Master new skills and try new things
  • Have fun and go on adventures
  • Make friends
  • Are curious about the world around them
  • Help others and make a difference, on their own doorstops and beyond

What do Squirrels get up to?

Every week, they gather in a group called a Dray to go on adventures, make memories, learn new skills and make new friends. There are lots of different and fun activities that squirrels will get to try, we encourage our members to try new things and push boundaries.

Who leads Squirrels?

Squirrel drays are made up of young people aged 4 to 6 years old. They are led by an adult Squirrel leader. Other adult volunteers are on hand to supervise activities. In our group, some of our leaders are named after Jungle Book characters or other animals and movie character names.

How to join

1st Merton Park is an extremely popular group, this means that lots of young people want to join and you might have to wait for a space to become available before you can start your scouting journey. If you have any questions about accessibility, it’s best to contact us in addition to your application. By being upfront about additional needs from the start, parents/carers can work in partnership with local leaders to make sure their young person has the best experience possible.

Put your phone down and what are you left with? Just teamwork, courage and the skills to succeed.’
